I'm over here slow-clapping and wondering why people are crowing about the supposed "victory" at the Dept. of Ed. When did we all forget the federal gov't isn't allowed to mandate specific curricula be taught, even attached to grant money? They can signal things they'd like too see, they cannot MANDATE (and I'm not altogether sure the wording ever even said "mandated" btw). So if they'd tried to force this shit, they'd have faced legal challenges, and likely would have lost (and even then, only in red states).
Blue states were always gonna use the money on this crap, and we all know it. So now it's "optional" (you know, like it always was), and people are saying "YAY WE WON!"
Um, no? We've spent the better part of a year trying to ban this shit b/c it constitutes compelled speech, treats students differently by race, and violates their civil rights. Nothing short of them saying you MAY NOT use our federal tax dollars on this shit would have been a "win" in my book.
