Someone sent this to me...Scroll down in the article and look at the tweet they chose to cite as evidence this board member is "transphobic..."

The word has no meaning as a slur. There's so much nuance to the whole argument!

First: "trans," what does that even mean? To me, if you're "transitioning" you're going FROM something TO something else. It's a process, you can't be in transition permanently. If your plan is to "appear to be" or "pretend to be" or "dress up" or be seen as" for the rest of your life, say so. A better description is "Synth" because the person is synthetically male or female. It's accurate, and I'm all about telling the truth.

Second: "phobe" which means one who fears. Ok, I'll bite: yes, I "fear" people who believe you can "transition" from one sex to another. People who don't recognize reality scare me. They're in the same clown car with people who truly believe they're Napoleon Bonaparte, or a tree. You can't be what you're not, A is A. What else will you believe? That I'm a bug to be squashed? I don't wanna find out.

I also fear people who have irrational beliefs they want me to endorse or validate when I don't want to. You stay over there and I'll stay over here and I won't mess with you, but come into my life or space and start demanding I follow your religion, and we have a problem, and frankly, believing in God makes so much more sense than believing you ARE God and can change your genetic code on a whim, or that you don't have to in order to BE a different kind of human!

But what I fear most is a dogma that says CHILDREN must be taught that synth-people are no different from men and women who accept their biology, as if this is truth on par with wet water and a round earth. But it's not. It's a flat earth mindset, and yet we are teaching to kids as young as THREE, and teaching them they could be "trans." That's a LIE. Would we say "You could be anorexic?" No. We don't tell small children they could someday develop a mental condition, nor do we tell them they could have one as early as infancy!!! But we do tell them their parents and doctor may be "wrong" about who they are, and that's child abuse in the world of me.

So yeah, I do fear people who would abuse children, especially those who claim their own existence is "erased" if they can't, if they're prevented from doing so! Such people are delusional, dangerous predators and must be stopped.

Having said all that. I know adults who are "trans," but know full well they are not the opposite sex, never will be, and are essentially living to be seen as the opposite sex and that's all. They are 100% against teaching this to kids as fact, and want to protect them from grooming. They accept they have a mental illness, and have chosen after long, painful, careful and usually PRIVATE consideration to treat that condition medically, by altering their bodies to appear as if they are the opposite sex. As a live and let live kinda girl, I don't have an issue with that. It's their body and their life, and they are adult enough to make these choices.

These people do not scare me at all. Some of them are my friends and I love them dearly. They are good people who had a lot of pain, and this is how they dealt with it. They're hurting no one. They ask for no special treatment, or privileges.

I hope my friends forgive me when I say "Ok, call me a transphobe," and I hope they know I'm talking to people like the ones freaking out over this board member's Twitter, tagging me. These are the people who only call me that because I won't bend the knee to their cult of unreality. These are the people who call me that because it's TRUE in their world, but their world is no place I want to live.

In short: yes, I am a "transphobe," and I make no apology for it.
